Drews 1st French Lesson (Les Articles Définis)
French is a gendered language with all nouns, adjectives, articles having a gender. Noun and Adjective and Articles all must match gender wise.
Le – Masculine Article “The”
La – Feminine Article “The”
Les – Plural Article “The” used for either masculine or feminine
Un – Masculine Article “A” or “An”
Une – Feminine Article “A” or “An”
?La Voiture (The Car) (Car is feminine thus we use La, not Le)
Le Livre (The Book) (Book is masculine thus we use Le, not La)
If the article Le or La precede a word that begins with a vowel then the article is shortened to L’ plus the noun
For example: L’orange is correct not La orange (the orange)
Les Voitures (The Cars) (Cars is plural thus we use Les)
Les Livres (The Books) (Books is plural thus we use Les)
Une Voiture (A Car) (Car is feminine thus we use Une, not Un)
Un Livre (A Book) (Book is masculine thus we use Le, not La)
Les Voitures (The Cars) (Car is feminine but Les is for both feminine and masculine)
Les Livres (The Books) (Books is masculine but Les is for both feminine and masculine)
i will forget how to pronounce these
