Plant ID

I finally discovered what my woodland mystery plant actually was.

It is Hexastylis arifolia (Michx) – littlebrownjug or ruthii

    It looks rather strange. Approx how big are the leaves?

    The leaves average around 5-6 inches. The plant is very fragrant with a very clean almost antiseptic type smell. They are very common here in KY. Their common name is Mountain Heartleaf.
