Laksa divine sustenance
Last night (and the day before) we had one of my all time favorite things, a thai spicy soup called Laksa.
For those who may not know, Laksa contains: noodles (or vermicelli), a stock of your choice, cocoanut milk, soy, onions, lemon grass, ginger, brown sugar, garlic, salt, candle nuts, galangal, red chilies, coriander seeds, roasted shrimp paste, kaffir lime leaves, and yeast extract.
The first night we tried it with shrimp and rice instead of noodles *yuuum*
The second night we tried it with rice and mushrooms and again *yuuum*
We made our laksa with laksa paste which came from Australia, I hope I can find a source here in USA as this stuff is simply to good to forget.
If only I could get all the good things I loved in Australia here in USA.
Like WeetBix cereal, Bombay Mix, Cordials, and Laksa Paste.
I love Bombay Mix! I used to make curry and top it with plain yogurt, a little mango chutney, and a sprinkling of Bombay Mix for a nice crunch. Mmm.
May 5th, 2005 at 5:03 pmDoes your bombay mix have the spicey and crunchy dehydrated peas along with crispy noodles?
Some of the bombay mixes that I see online are noodles and fried lentils which is not quite what I am used to.
Where are you getting your bombay mix??
And that curry sounds like heaven, I so love curry!
May 5th, 2005 at 5:07 pmThis was back in Ireland, but I think they may sell it at the better Shaws supermarkets, in the international food section. I think the one I got had crunchy dehydrated lentils or peas in it.
May 5th, 2005 at 5:14 pmYeah they sold it in supermarkets in Australia by the scoop and it was one of my fav snacks.
You should try laksa as anybody who loves curry would love it.
