Green Card

received her green card thru the mail today.

I figured a timeline might be of some use to show what we went thru with this whole process.

November 15th 2002 – Flew to Los Angeles to meet
February 15th 2003 – We flew to Brisbane Australia.
July 3rd 2003 – We flew back to Los Angeles,
September 23rd 2003 – Married (Started filing Immigration Papers)
December 5th 2003 – Form I-793 (Medical Examination) in Richmond KY
December 12th 2003 – Received MMR/TD Vaccinations (Measles, Mumps, Rubeola, Tetanus/Diptheria)
March 8th 2004 – Sent forms I-485, I-130, I-864, I-864A, I-793 to Louisville Sub Office
March 30th 2004 – Receipt Notices for all forms receive this date
June 15th 2004 – Fingerprinted before Interview in Louisville KY
June 15th 2004 – Immigration Interview in Louisville KY
June 15th 2004 – Interviewer (Mark Cox) dismissed one sponsor and requested a new one (or $50k in assets)
August 18th 2004 – Call Immigration (our case is outside their Processing Time)
September 7th 2004 – Sent in new I-864 with requested information.
September 15th 2005 – Call Immigration (our case is outside their Processing Time)
October 19th 2005 – Call Immigration (our case is outside their Processing Time)
November 30th 2005 – Call Immigration (our case is outside their Processing Time)
August 27th 2005 – Request For Further Evidence (RFE) requiring 2 new color photographs (passport style) and tax returns of our sponsor
September 19th 2005 – Sent new photos and tax returns to Immigration Sub Office in Louisville KY
January 10th 2006 – Re-fingerprinting required (old prints expired)
January 27th 2006 – AOS Approved (Permanent Residency Approved)
February 1st 2006 – Permanent Residency Card Ordered
February 6th 2006 – Permanent Residency Card Arrived

    Ummmm… what is a sponsor? How does that work?

    A sponsor is someone who accepts financial responsibility for an immigrant should that person become a public charge.

    In otherwords they sign a document stating that they will reimburse the government for any public means tested benefits said immigrant might receive, things like SSI, etc.
