Morchella esculenta (Morel Mushroom)
They are sooo yummy. I have them soaking in a brine solution and tomorrow I shall dip in egg and dredge in cornmeal followed by a gentle frying in E.V.O.O.

I haven’t seen you post much, then you come along with mushrooms! :o)
They look funny, I wish I could taste more odd looking mushrooms…love mushrooms…but a. unlike you I cannot cook and b. around here both in stores in growing the most exotic mushrooms we have are chestnut mushrooms.
Anyway, random comment, hope you are well x
April 10th, 2006 at 8:42 pmI need to post more 🙂
They remind me of sea sponges for some reason.
Locally people call morel mushrooms “hickory chickens” or “dry land fish”.
If you ever happen to visit USA, then drop by and I will give you some cooking lessons 🙂
In our markets you often find button mushrooms and portabello’s fresh, and jars of cremini, shitake, and straw mushrooms.
I love showing people things which they may have not seen before 🙂
I am doing great, been busy as heck with a business startup, that’s why I haven’t been posting much. But I do make it a point to go over my friends list every day 🙂
*hugs*
