Barter Theatre

Yesterday, and I, went to Barter Theatre in Abingdon Virginia.

A lady we know was being inducted to the Barter Theatre Walk of Fame, and we had free tickets for the play “Man of Constant Sorrow”.

I was pleasantly stunned by the list of actors who had their start at Barter. Names such as Ernest Borgnine, Gregory Peck, Hume Cronyn, Ned Beatty, etc.

I also noticed a photo of Armin Shimerman (Quark from various Star Trek series, and the Principal from BTVS).

After the play we went to a reception at Glenrochie Country Club with the cast and such, the food wasn’t the best. I had issues with the red velvet cake being virtually dessicated and flavourless, which is not the way of red velvet cake.

I recently had a dessicated and flavourless red velvet cake too. My roommate made it. I, with my intense sweet tooth, managed to choke down a bite before actually THROWING THE CAKE AWAY.

It’s a shame that one could do such to such a wonderful thing as Red Velvet Cake. I mean hell they are potentially one of the richest flavoured cakes out there. They are sweet red passion made manifest.

If you happen to come down this way, be prepared to taste my red velvet cake 🙂 Even a small piece will satisfy the most ravenous sweet tooth.

I was just talking to about mint juleps, and mentioning we should go to KY to taste them!

The Kentucky Derby and mint juleps are divine.
