Windows Vista

Well, I signed up for Windows Vista Customer Preview Program, received a product key and subsequently downloaded the Release Candidate 1 version of Windows Vista from Microsoft.

The installation was painless, requiring virtually no interaction save the product key and time zone. The installation was also a bit lengthy and uninformative.

I can say that there is so far very rudimentary driver support available for Vista, which makes a good review impossible at the moment.

Inherently Vista did not support my onboard sound. It did set graphics as Default VGA which is no good. Apparently SiS drivers aren’t available for my video or fully functioning sound support.

The graphics of Vista is intensive even without the AERO graphics.

I would suggest those interested in testing MS Windows Vista to run the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor so they can tell what hardware is supported.
