The Christian Population

reminded me of something which I was discussing with a few weeks ago.

An uncle of mine seems to have the idea that a religious majority should squash the rights of the religious minorities, which as you can imagine irks me.

There is a behavior in my area in which people who never attend church, do not listen to religious programming, do not read the bible, and most often do not follow the major tenants of Christianity, when asked their religion always choose “Christian” either verbally or on any form presented with such a choice. What’s funny is if you sorta inquire on this phenomon by the people doing it, they seem to say something along the lines of “oh my family is…” or “I was raised in an ….” or “I used to go to …… church”. I wonder if other religions get such an inflation to their rank via similar occurences.

I wonder how much this inflates the estimated number of Christians within a society. I also wonder if the potential threat of hell was dropped from Christianity would it’s population change?
