Buhbye Wisdom Tooth

I had a dentists appointment yesterday along side my wife.

I am amazed at the level of efficiency that my dentist exhibits. It is my experience that most dentists see one patient at a time, which if you understand the basics of dentistry isn’t overly efficient because you have to wait for x-rays to develope, and wait for the anesthetic to kick-in, etc.

Well my dentist has several rooms in which he keeps occupied at any given time, alternating between the patients seamlessly. He is not only an incredible multitasker with his small staff but he is also incredibly gentle and capable. I had a wisdom tooth extraction yesterday and the only thing I felt was the pinch on the cheeks and slight pressure. Excluding the wait for the x-rays and the time it took for the local anesthetic to permeate the tissue, the entire extracture procedure took no more than two minutes. The procedure consisted of two sessions of prying on either side of the tooth followed by lifting it out. He nicely conversant during the procedure, which relieved a bit of the apprehension.

This is my second wisdom tooth extraction (both performed by this dentist), no swelling, no bruising, and incredibly no pain.

*crosses fingers for no dry-socket*, though I hear upper wisdom teeth are less prone for dry-sockets and I have a habit of being very cautious as to preserve the alveolar clot.

Oh the price for my extraction was $40, other dentists in my area charge around $80 – $120 for a basic extraction.
