Great Indian Food
Me and Elli went to EKU (Eastern Kentucky University) which was around 2.5hrs away from where we live. They had an open spotlight day where new students can sign up for Autumn courses.
We decided to drive up to Lexington and visit this Indian market and and Indian restaurant. We ended up visiting an Asian market (Dong Yang Market), and Sagar India Market, and The Banana Leaf which is Southern India and Malaysian cuisine. We end up buying; papadams, star anise, mustard seed, vietnamese springroll skins, red lentils, rose water, tomato flavoured maggi noodles, hobknobs (cookies), nishikii rice, white rabbits, aloe vera drink, rice wine vinegar,40 nori sheets, semolina.
At the Banana Leaf, my wife and I were in for a treat, we had:
Assorted Appetizer Platter – Vada, Pakora, and Onion Baji (a fried food extravaganza)
Dosa – Half Potato Masal & Half Cauliflower Masal (Dosa’s are enormous crepes that remind me of fortune cookie flavour)
Mutton Curry served with Rice (Hot, Fragrant, Pungent, Curry of Goat chunks)
and of course a Mango Lassi (mango flavoured yoghurt drink)
Elli said that it was probably the best Indian she has ever tried, and speaking of someone who lived in England that’s amazing.
mmmmmm… Indian. 🙂
